On-stage performance of the Iowa Women's Jazz Orchestra.

The Iowa Women's Jazz Orchestra (IWJO) is a jazz big band made up of women musicians from across the state dedicated to showcasing and encouraging the participation of women and girls in jazz.

Since 2017, IWJO has met to perform across the state of Iowa for the purpose of showcasing the artistry of women jazz musicians and inspiring
the next generation. Contact us today to bring IWJO to your school or event,
to join the band, or to dive deeper into our mission,
and please explore our website for more information.

"The purpose of this all-female band is to provide role-models for girls in Iowa jazz programs, to demonstrate that girls can play jazz, that this is what girls sound like playing jazz, and that girl voices in jazz are valid and meaningful. "
From Jazz, Gender, and Iowa's All-Female Jazz Orchestra, an article written by Dr. Erin Wehr about the creation of IWJO.
